COVID-19: Most Affected Group: Senior Citizens
Due to this corona pandemic, the most affected group of people are senior citizens. Because of the following reasons: Senior citizens have a much greater susceptibility to Covid-19 infection and death, compared to people from other age groups, as they have weaker immunity system. After the gradual withdrawal of lockdown, their conditions are becoming even more unsafe as young family members living with them are moving outside the home for their work and other activities which increases the risk of carrying infection back to the home where older members are also there. Senior Citizens remained confined to their homes without minimum physical exercise and most of the senior citizens are not tech-savvy. So being in the home for such a long period makes them feel lonely and depressed. Senior Citizens living alone need to manage daily chores like shopping for groceries, buying medicines all by themselves.
